I went to a Haro show in Tulsa Oklahoma in 1985 and met Dennis McCoy and Tony Murray. There was a local contest in connection with it, so they saw me hit the ramp a few times and invited me to ride with them…
Don’t forget folks, we’re auctioning the helmets worn and the bikes ridden during Arcade Fire’s performance at the Grammy Awards this year to benefit fellow BMX rider Mike Vincent who was seriously injured after being hit by a car while riding his bike. His recovery is coming along but the medical bills are mounting and he needs our help! What’s better than to give to a good cause AND get some cool gear?

Back in mid-August last year, I got the opportunity to ride the Infamous Pink Motel Pool. Jeff Tremaine was shooting Weezer’s “Memories” video, so he rented it out all day. The call time was around 3p, but I had a flight that was leaving at 4p, so I got there in the morning and had a solo session. It was so surreal. I was introduced to this pool when I was 15 years old, through the animal chin video in 1987. Now, 24 years later, I get a private session. I’m the luckiest man in the world!
I got a good hour in, but I found there are thorns all over the outside of the pool and got a flat, so I spent a couple hours of valuable riding time searching for a tube. Once I got back people started showing up. I got to ride for about 30 min while people started flooding in and Weezer set up. Unfortunately, I had to bail before the shoot got on its way, but here are some photos of me trying to air the legend.[yframe url=’http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lh8xFFU5DCs&feature=youtube_gdata_player’]

Here’s the video. I found a fun gap line into the pool.[yframe url=’http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BApLIldPAds’]
